everybody welcome!

Welcome to Tara Buddhist Centre. Established by the modern-day meditation master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in 1983, Tara Centre is a Kadampa Buddhist college, retreat and meditation centre, situated in the heart of England within 38 acres of lawns and woods at Ashe Hall in Derbyshire.
The Centre is open throughout the year and everybody is welcome to come and relax in the beautiful grounds or enjoy the World Peace Café, open 7 days each week. Everybody is welcome to visit and enjoy this beautiful, holy place - a peaceful haven in an increasingly hectic world.
Tara Centre is the perfect place to relax, study, meditate or stay and take a break for a few days in The Barn B&B. At the Centre there are regular meditation classes, retreats and courses teaching Buddhism, meditation and positive thinking at all levels: from introductions for beginners through to advanced study and meditation programmes. We also run evening classes in Buddhism and meditation throughout the Midlands.
meditation & Buddhism
Meditation is the heart of the Buddhist path. Through learning how to control and pacify our minds with meditation, we can reduce and finally eliminate the negative states of mind that are the cause of all our problems and pain. We can improve and finally perfect the positive states of mind that enable us effectively to benefit ourself and others. See About Meditation for more information, and for details of meditation classes in your area.
